The National Space Society is proud to announce special screening of the new movie The Wonder Of It All at the 2008 International Space Development Conference. The Wonder Of It All focuses on the experiences that continue to shape the lives of the “Moonwalkers” today. The years since have allowed for introspection and each man is thoughtful and candid whether speaking about training, the tragedies, the camaraderie, or the effect it all had on their families.
In May 1961, President John F. Kennedy spoke the immortal words; “I believe that this nation should commit itself, to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth.” These words changed the lives of twelve men who became known as “Moonwalkers.” The journey began there and continues on in Jeffrey Roth’s award winning critically acclaimed documentary film, The Wonder of it All.
Seven of the surviving Moonwalkers warmly reflect on the monumental quest which captivated the world in, 'The Wonder of It All.' Buzz Aldrin, Alan Bean, Edgar Mitchell, John Young, Charles Duke, Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt share personal stories about their childhood, historic moonwalks, what it took to get them there and their lives since coming back to Earth. Weaving the astronauts’ insightful interviews with NASA archival footage forms an engaging narrative that is ever mindful of the historical context. Personal family photos reinforce the intimacy of the film and its emphasis on the human side of the Apollo missions.
The filmmakers will be on hand to introduce the film with a Q&A after each screening. Advanced tickets are highly recommended to secure your reserved time. This is your chance to see this award winning critically acclaimed film before the release to the general public.

Alan Bean- Apollo 12 Lunar Module Pilot who became the 4th person in history to walk on the Moon, is internationally known as an artist who has a perspective like no other. Inspired by the Impressionists and studying under contemporary Masters, Alan is the only artist in history to have stepped on another world. Bringing this singular quality to his works, Bean paints with an authenticity an insight completely unique in the history of Art. This DVD features an original documentary about Alan Bean and why he left NASA to make his Apollo-inspired artwork using footage shot inside the Apollo 12 moonwalker's workshop. Using actual elements from the Moon and the spacecraft, Alan creates his works as no one else can. The DVD also includes a photo gallery of the Apollo-era tools and artifacts that Bean uses to add texture and character to his paintings.
